Surgical Technologist Lead

Job Summary
Lead Surgical Technologist responsibilities include anticipating and meeting instrument, equipment, and supply needs for upcoming surgeries in the Operating Room; maintaining asepsis and correcting breaks in technique; coaching and training surgical team on universal safety precautions and anatomy/physiology; supporting daily operations by updating preference lists and contributing to quality assurance/improvement efforts; collaborating with the surgical team to update care plans and ensure competency for staff; serving on a committee to support department goals; performing other duties as assigned. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, ARC/STSA-approved surgical technology education or equivalent military training, 5 years of experience, CST certification (or waiver if hired before 12/31/2017), and BLS CPR.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of a Surgical Technology program accredited through ARC/STSA or equivalent military training with surgical tech experience
- 5 years of surgical technologist experience
- BLS (CPR) - American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
- CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) from The Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. Surgical Technologists hired prior to 12/31/2017 will have the certification requirement waived. If the CST credential was held on 12/31/17, credential must be maintained without lapse.
