Job Summary
Communicate verbally and in writing with students regarding performance feedback and provide individual appointments for academic assistance. Lead dynamic, active classroom sessions using synchronous tools to create high student engagement while modeling appropriate learning skills. Respond to Dean and University staff regarding student issues, accreditation needs, and faculty file items in a timely manner. Play an integral role in curriculum development and assessment for the Surgical Technology program. Attend programmatic meetings, committee work, and complete six annual educational units for professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Surgical Technology
- Active, unrestricted CST or CST/CSFA
- 2+ years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role, or as an instructor in surgical technology, or combination of both, within the past 5 years
- Must be able to provide professional licenses/certifications required for specialized schools (Health Sciences, Nursing) before teaching
- License must be active and unencumbered
- Must be able to provide official transcripts for each degree earned from an accredited institution before teaching
- Must complete a minimum of six (6) Rasmussen Educational Units (REUs) annually or two (2) REUs per quarter for each quarter you teach (whichever is less) between the combined areas of Teaching Development and Development in Discipline
- Must be able to provide proper documentation for faculty immunizations
Desired Qualifications
- Teaching experience preferred
- Clinical preceptor experience preferred
- Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with students, leadership, and peers
- Excellent written communication and strong verbal communication skills in the English language
