Job Summary
Prepare the Operating Room for surgical procedures by organizing equipment, setting up quickly for emergency cases, and ensuring adequate supplies. Assist the surgeon as a scrub person, maintaining a sterile field and handling instruments efficiently. Verify specimens, account for all instruments and sponges, and receive correct implants. Perform decontamination, assembly, and sterilization using steam, hydrogen peroxide, and ultrasonic cleaners. Transport patients to the O.R. when necessary and assist with on-the-job training for new staff. Work rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Technical Certificate completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program
- Certified Surgical Tech (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
- Less than 1 year experience as a Surgical Technician
- Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
- Ability to communicate effectively with others
- Ability to hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds
- Ability to work the hours specified
- Ability to perform each essential job function satisfactorily
