Surgical Technologist II (Certified) — Weekend Day Shift (12-Hour)

Job Summary

Review preference cards to ensure all supplies, instruments, and equipment are ready for each scheduled procedure. Perform preoperative duties including surgical scrub, gowning, gloving, and establishing the sterile field. Anticipate procedural needs by preparing additional instrumentation, measuring and passing medications, and holding retractors as directed by the surgeon. Conduct intraoperative sponge and needle counts, assist with basic equipment troubleshooting, and prepare dressings prior to closure. Collaborate with the Sterile Processing Department to maintain instrument integrity and follow lock-out/tag-out procedures for malfunctioning devices. Monitor room traffic control, safety violations, and environmental conditions throughout each case.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)–accredited Surgical Technology program
  • Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
  • Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification
  • Minimum two (2) years of work experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
  • Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology relevant to surgical patient care
  • Expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique
  • Ability to operate surgical equipment and devices, anticipate procedural needs, and problem-solve in real time during surgery
  • Strong attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and ability to follow verbal and written instructions and adhere to hospital and departmental policies
  • Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required
  • Three (3) 12-hour day shifts per week within a Friday – Sunday rotation
  • 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
  • On-call rotation including nights and weekends required
