Job Summary
Perform first scrub role independently in multiple service lines, scrubbing core and specialty procedures while anticipating surgeon requests. Apply and enforce sterile technique principles throughout the surgical procedure, maintain sharp safety, ensure medication safety on the field, and demonstrate competence in surgical counts. React professionally to unexpected changes and precept other staff in the scrub role. Work within scope of job requiring critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Use instrumentation and equipment properly, collaborating with service specialists to improve surgeon preference cards.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Tech program or Associates Degree or Military trained
- State Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist registration (DORA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification
- Certified as a Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date
- BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire
