Job Summary
Assist in setting up the surgical operating suite with appropriate instruments and supplies while utilizing proper aseptic techniques and standard precautions. Prepare, position, and drape patients, participating in the surgical pause to verify correct patient and surgical site information. Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts and follow policies for medication and specimen handling. Adapt to surgeon preferences and patient care variables to contribute to updating surgeon preference materials. Maintain a cost-effective and efficient environment for patients by caring for resources. This role supports direct and indirect technical tasks for patients before, during, and after surgical interventions at Allegheny Health Network.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum One year certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Accredited Surgical Technologist program completion and nationally recognized certification (CST, TS-C)
- CPR – American Heart Association
- Adherence to applicable federal and state laws, rules, and regulations as well as company policies and training requirements
- Compliance with the Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)
- Compliance with company's Code of Business Conduct
- Understanding of aseptic techniques and practices standard precautions
- Ability to perform sponge, needle, and instrument count
- Ability to understand, anticipate and adapt to surgeon preference and patient care variables

- 1-3 years of Surgical Technologist experience
