Surgical Technologist (CST) -OR General Surgery

Job Summary
Provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures in the operating room. Ensure proper arrangement and availability of surgical equipment and supplies; assist the surgeon during operations as allowed by professional and legal standards; and assist with cleaning the operating room after procedures, ensuring proper routing of equipment and used materials. Reports to Manager. This role requires completion of a surgical technician program and NBSTSA certification (or eligibility to obtain within one year), CPR/BLS validation, sterile-field discipline, and knowledge of asepsis, surgical equipment, and intraoperative needs. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential to support the surgical team and maintain patient safety throughout procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a surgical technician program
- Must be certified through the NBSTSA or able to obtain certification within one year of employment
- Maintenance of CPR, BLS validation and attendance of annual Validation Day required
- Knowledge of various surgical procedures and ability to anticipate the needs of the surgeon
- Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
- Adherence to sterile-field policies and regulations
- Knowledge of asepsis principles and patient safety concepts
- Knowledge of OR emergency situations
