Surgical Technologist (CST) -OR General Surgery

Job Summary
Provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures; ensure the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies in the operating room; assist the surgeon during the operation as allowed by professional and legal standards; assist with cleaning the operating room after the operation ensuring proper routing of equipment and used materials; report to Manager; role requires NBSTSA certification or eligibility within one year, CPR/BLS validation, and strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation to support General Surgery in the OR.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a surgical technician program
- Certification through NBSTSA or eligible to obtain certification within one year of employment
- CPR and BLS validation maintained; annual Validation Day attendance
- Knowledge of various surgical procedures and ability to anticipate surgeon needs
- Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
- Strict adherence to sterile field policies and regulations
- Knowledge and practice of basic patient safety concepts; asepsis principles
- Understanding of OR emergency situations
