Surgical Technologist (CST) -OR General Surgery

Job Summary
Provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. Ensure the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies in the operating room for each operation; assist the surgeon during the operation as permitted by standards; assist with cleaning the operating room after the operation and proper routing of equipment and used materials. Reports to Manager. This role supports a career path within Hartford HealthCare’s perioperative services and requires NBSTSA certification (or progression to certification within one year), CPR/BLS validation, and strong knowledge of asepsis, sterile technique, and operating room procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a surgical technician program
- Must be certified through the NBSTSA or obtain certification within one year of employment
- Maintain CPR and BLS validation; attendance at annual Validation Day required
- Knowledge of surgical procedures and ability to anticipate surgeon needs
- Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Adherence to sterile field policies and asepsis principles
- Knowledge of OR emergency procedures
