Surgical Technologist (CST) -OR General Surgery

Job Summary
Provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures in the operating room. Ensure proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies; assist the surgeon during operation as allowed; assist with cleaning the operating room and proper routing of equipment/materials. Requires completion of a surgical technician program and NBSTSA certification (or within 1 year); CPR/BLS validation; strong knowledge of asepsis, sterile technique, and OR procedures; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and adherence to policies and regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a surgical technician program
- Certification through NBSTSA or ability to obtain certification within one year
- CPR/BLS validation and annual Validation Day attendance
- Knowledge of surgical procedures and ability to anticipate surgeon needs
- Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
- Adherence to sterile field policies and regulations
- Knowledge of asepsis principles and patient safety concepts
- Knowledge of OR emergency procedures
