Surgical Technologist (CST) -OR General Surgery

Job Summary
Provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures; ensure presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies in the operating room for each operation; assist the surgeon during the operation as allowed by professional standards; assist with cleaning the operating room after the operation and proper routing of equipment and used materials; reports to Manager; opportunity to work within Hartford HealthCare’s MidState Medical Center network with focus on sterile technique, asepsis, instrument handling, and patient safety.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a surgical technician program
- Must be certified through the NBSTSA or be able to obtain certification within one year of employment
- CPR and BLS validation maintained
- Knowledge of various surgical procedures and ability to anticipate surgeon needs
- Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
- Adherence to sterile field policies and regulations
- Knowledge of asepsis principles and patient safety
- Knowledge of OR emergency procedures
