Surgical Technologist (CST) -OR General Surgery

Job Summary
Provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. Ensure the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies in the operating room; assist the surgeon during the operation as allowed by professional and legal standards; and assist with cleaning the operating room after the operation ensuring proper routing of equipment and used materials. Reports to Manager. This position supports a team-based cardiovascular and general surgery operating room environment with a focus on asepsis, patient safety, and efficient OR operations across Hartford HealthCare’s MidState Medical Center locations.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a surgical technician program
- Certification through the NBSTSA or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment
- CPR, BLS validation and annual Validation Day attendance
- Knowledge of surgical procedures and ability to anticipate needs of the surgeon
- Knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
- Adherence to sterile field policies and asepsis principles
- Knowledge of OR emergency procedures
