Job Summary
Provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. Ensure the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies in the operating room for each operation; assist the surgeon during the operation as allowed by professional and legal standards; assist with cleaning the operating room after the operation ensuring proper routing of equipment and used materials. Reports to Manager. Located at Evansville, IN. Requires completion of a surgical technician program and NBSTSA certification (or within one year), CPR/BLS maintenance, and strong knowledge of sterile technique, asepsis, and OR safety; must be able to anticipate the surgeon’s needs and effectively communicate within the team.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a surgical technician program
- Certification through the NBSTSA or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment
- CPR, BLS validation and annual Validation Day maintained
- Knowledge of various surgical procedures and ability to anticipate surgeon needs
- Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
- Strict adherence to sterile field policies and regulations
- Knowledge of asepsis principles and patient safety concepts
- Knowledge of OR emergency situations
