Surgical Technologist (CST) -OR General Surgery

Job Summary
Provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures; ensure the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies in the operating room to each operation; assist the surgeon during the operation as allowed by professional and legal standards; assist with cleaning the operating room after the operation ensuring proper routing of equipment and used material; reports to Manager. Requires completion of a surgical technician program and NBSTSA certification (or ability to obtain within one year), CPR/BLS validation, and strong interpersonal/communication skills; knowledge of asepsis, sterile field maintenance, and various surgical procedures to anticipate needs of the surgeon.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a surgical technician program
- Certification through NBSTSA or ability to obtain within one year
- CPR, BLS validation and annual Validation Day
- Knowledge of various surgical procedures and ability to anticipate surgeon needs
- Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
- Adherence to sterile field policies and patient safety concepts
- Asepsis principles in patient care
- Knowledge of OR emergency situations
