Surgical Technologist (CST) -OR General Surgery

Job Summary
Provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. Ensure the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies in the operating room for each operation; assist the surgeon during the operation as allowed by professional and legal standards; assist with cleaning the operating room after the operation ensuring proper routing of equipment and used materials. Reports to Manager. Eligible candidates should have completed a surgical technician program and be NBSTSA certified or able to obtain certification within one year, maintain CPR/BLS, and attend an annual Validation Day. Must demonstrate knowledge of various surgical procedures, identify and handle surgical equipment, maintain sterile technique, and adhere to policies for patient safety and asepsis. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. Required Qualifications
- Completion of a surgical technician program
- Certified through NBSTSA or ability to obtain certification within one year
- CPR and BLS validation
- Annual Validation Day attendance
- Knowledge of surgical procedures and equipment
- Ability to anticipate surgeon's needs
- Sterile field maintenance
- Asepsis principles in patient care
- Knowledge of OR emergency situations
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
