Job Summary
Surgical Technologist (CST) needed to provide pre-, intra-, and post-operative support in the operating room for general surgery cases. Responsibilities include ensuring proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies, assisting the surgeon during operations as allowed, and helping with post-operative OR cleanup while ensuring proper routing of used materials. Requires completion of a surgical technician program and NBSTSA certification (or ability to obtain within one year), plus CPR/BLS validation and annual training; must knowledge of sterilization, sterile field maintenance, and various surgical procedures, and possess strong interpersonal skills to support the surgical team.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a surgical technician program
- NBSTSA certification or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment
- CPR and BLS validation maintained; attendance at annual Validation Day required
- Knowledge of sterilization, asepsis, and operating room protocols
- Knowledge of surgical procedures, equipment, and instrumentation
- Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and recognize problems
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
- Adherence to policies regarding sterile field and patient safety
