Surgical Technologist (CST) -OR General Surgery

Job Summary
Provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. Ensure presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies in the operating room for each operation; assist the surgeon during the operation as allowed by professional and legal standards; assist with cleaning the operating room after the operation ensuring proper routing of equipment and used materials. Reports to Manager. The role requires knowledge of various surgical procedures, anticipation of the surgeon’s needs, familiarity with surgical instruments and equipment, maintaining sterile fields, adherence to asepsis, and strong communication skills to support patient safety and effective OR workflow. Location noted as Virginia Beach, VA.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a surgical technician program
- Must be certified through the NBSTSA or able to obtain certification within one year of employment
- Maintain CPR and BLS validation; attend annual Validation Day
- Knowledge of surgical procedures and ability to anticipate needs of the surgeon
- Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
- Strict adherence to sterile field policies and regulations
- Knowledge of asepsis principles and patient safety concepts
- Knowledge of OR emergency situations
