Job Summary
Surgical Technologist in the Cardiovascular Operating Room prepares and maintains the sterile field for cardiovascular procedures. Duties include checking supplies and equipment, setting up sterile tables, performing appropriate counts, draping the sterile field, passing instruments to the surgeon and assistant, preparing sterile dressings, and cleaning instruments for terminal sterilization. Works 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM with on-call requirements; ensures adherence to perioperative practices, aseptic technique, patient positioning, and proper handling of biohazard materials. Requires certification as a Surgical Technologist and BLS; minimum qualifications include accredited surgical technology training or recognized military program, with preferred CST/TS-C credentials and related OR experience.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program accredited through the CAAHEP or ABHES OR completion of a military surgical technology program OR certification as a Surgical Technologist (TS-C through the National Center for Competency Training or CST through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
