Job Summary
Prepare the operative environment, maintain strict aseptic technique, and anticipate surgeon instrumentation needs during daily OR coverage. Select sterile packs, perform hand scrubs, and organize back tables pre-operatively. Assist with draping, participate in surgical "Time Outs," pass instruments and sutures, and manage medications intra-operatively. Apply sterile dressings, handle specimens, and transport soiled instruments post-operatively. Restock operating rooms and assist with sterile processing tasks as needed. Requires active Colorado DORA registration, CST certification, and BLS. Full-time, no nights/call/holidays/weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Registration with the Colorado DORA Office of Surgical Assistant and Surgical Technologist Registration
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to stand in a stationary position for extended periods (5+ consecutive hours)
- Ability to lift/carry instrument trays up to 20 lbs. and push/pull equipment over 25 lbs.
- Fine motor skills, sharp depth perception, and acute hearing to follow verbal commands through surgical masks
- High distress tolerance and rapid decision-making skills during high-stakes clinical scenarios
- Must be available for nights, calls, holidays, and weekends
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program (Certificate or Associate Degree)
- NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
