Job Summary
Prepare surgical cases by creating and maintaining sterile fields, retracting and passing instruments, and supplying medications to surgeons during procedures. Accurately check supplies and equipment prior to each case, assemble operative instrumentation, and set up sterile fields demonstrating aseptic technique. Collect data on assigned cases, complete instrument, sponge, and blade counts with the Registered Nurse, and transport patients according to unit schedules. Perform housekeeping duties, clean equipment and facilities, and provide clerical support as requested. Requires accredited surgical technology program, Surgery Technician certification, and CPR/BLS certification.
Required Qualifications
- Accredited surgical technology program
- Surgery Technician certification
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
- AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS or AHA-CPR or ARC-CPR
- Receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable
Desired Qualifications
- High School Education/GED or equivalent
- Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience
- Scrub technician experience
- Operating room experience and/or training course
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
