Job Summary
Anticipate sequential needs of the surgeon during procedures and assist with case preparation following preference card guidelines. Collaborate with the Resource Nurse and Perioperative Educator on competency-based orientation while precepting staff and students. Ensure equipment functions properly by identifying and troubleshooting problems immediately or notifying appropriate personnel. Maintain aseptic techniques, identify and handle specimens appropriately, and respond to questions from patient families with sensitivity. Participate in multidisciplinary quality improvement teams, unit-based committees, and community outreach efforts as required. Provide indirect patient care activities such as transportation and serve as a technical resource person regarding instruments and equipment maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- graduation from a school of surgical technology or hospital-based program
- 1-2 years Surgical technologist experience
- One year of relevant professional-level work experience
- 6 Continuing Education Credits per year
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
- CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification preferred
