Job Summary
Prepare surgical equipment and instruments, set up case carts, and open sterile supplies using aseptic technique. Assist nursing staff in patient care, perform OR room turnover, and sterilize camera, scope, and cables based on physician preferences. Maintain a sterile environment and adapt to changing OR conditions while ensuring thorough adherence to standard precautions. Operate within a Level One Trauma Center featuring 24/7 operations across 13 surgical suites with 1:1 nurse ratios and in-house anesthesia.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of four (4) years clinical experience as a surgical technologist
- High school diploma or GED
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Must be able to adapt quickly
- Must possess a strong team-player mindset
- Must have enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures
- Must demonstrate the ability to adapt to changing OR environment
- Must have a thorough understanding of standard precautions in maintaining OR cleanliness
- Must be able to set up surgical equipment and instruments
- Must be able to assist the surgical team
- Must be able to ensure a sterile environment
- Must be able to prepare and set up case carts
- Must be able to use aseptic technique with sterile supplies
- Must be able to open sterile supplies utilizing sterile technique
- Must be able to sterilize appropriate camera, scope and cables
- Must be able to assist nursing staff in providing patient care
- Must be able to perform OR room turnover in an efficient manner
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited surgical technologist program
- Certified as a surgical technologist
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
- Two (2) years clinical experience
