Job Summary
Ensure the functionality, availability, and sterility of OR supplies and equipment prior to the daily caseload. Scrub and handle instruments during surgical procedures while adhering to aseptic technique standards. Assist service-line coordinators in receiving and stocking supplies for multiple specialties and report inventory variations. Participate in room turnover and transport patients as needed. Collaborate with circulating nurses, supervisors, and managers to support departmental budgetary objectives and systems improvement initiatives. This role supports the Magnet journey and CMS 5-star quality ratings at Providence Saint John's Health Center.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited surgical technologist course (not required if more than 10 years of experience)
- H.S. Diploma or GED
- National Certified Surgical Technologist - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting upon hire
- National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire
- 2 years experience as a surgical technologist with the ability to competently scrub all regularly performed procedures in five of the eight core service-line clusters (cardiac, thoracic/vascular, orthopedics, spine, general/urology/gynecology, EENT/plastics/maxillofacial, neuro, robotics)
- Of the five service-lines, three must be general/urology/gynecology, orthopedics, and spine
