Job Summary
Assists nursing and surgical staff with direct patient care activities and provides technical assistance in the operating room environment. Performs scrub duties including gloving, draping, and maintaining a clean work area while applying knowledge of surgical asepsis to arrange sterile packs and instruments. Collaborates with the OR team to gather supplies, check cases, and perform needle, sponge, and instrument counts according to hospital policy. Monitors aseptic technique, ensures proper specimen collection and delivery, and participates in staff education and unit performance improvement activities. Works Monday through Friday as a full-time day shift from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an OR Technician training program or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of experience
- Must be a Certified Surgical Technician by the Association of Surgery Technologists, NBSTSA
- Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association
