Job Summary
Assists nursing and surgical staff with direct patient care activities and provides technical assistance in the operating room environment. Performs scrubbing, gloving, and draping techniques while applying surgical asepsis to arrange and open sterile supplies. Checks cases, gathers equipment, and anticipates surgical team needs throughout procedures, ensuring proper instrument and sponge counts. Monitors the surgical team's aseptic technique, identifies breaks in sterility, and reports drain or implant locations for accurate documentation. Collaborates with the OR team to maintain a clean work area and participates in staff education, unit performance improvement activities, and the implementation of new policies.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an OR Technician training program or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of experience
- Must be a Certified Surgical Technician by the Association of Surgery Technologists, NBSTSA
- Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association
