Job Summary
Prepare and maintain the sterile field for obstetrical procedures including cesarean sections, passing instruments, and ensuring surgical equipment functions properly. Scrub in, maintain aseptic technique, and anticipate team needs by passing sutures and supplies while performing counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments with the RN. Assist with routine patient care activities, vital signs, transport, and hygiene, and manage neonatal resuscitation equipment during emergencies such as stat cesarean sections or postpartum hemorrhage. Decontaminate, clean, and restock instruments after procedures while stocking labor rooms and supply carts. Maintain competency in required equipment and participate in quality improvement activities and staff meetings. Alternating weekends schedule; full-time employment.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Completion of an Surgical Technician training program
- Certification by the Association of Surgery Technologists as a Surgical Technologist CST, NBSTSA required
- Alternating Weekends
- Full Time
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a surgical setting preferred
- labor and delivery experience highly desirable
