Job Summary
Prepare instruments, scrub cases, and position patients for ophthalmic surgeries under surgeon supervision. Open sterile packs, anticipate supply needs, and operate OR equipment including lights and suction. Maintain records for medications, specimens, and implants while assisting with patient transfers to PACU. Clean and restock the operating room, pass instruments to surgical assistants, and participate in QAPI training and continuing education. Work Monday through Friday from 5:30am to mid-afternoon in a PRN schedule, with on-call availability as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Favorable result on background check required
- Must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States
- Ability to prioritize, plan, and implement patient care within the scope of their practice
- Ability to handle stress associated with prioritizing multiple tasks
- Needs manual dexterity to handle instruments
- Must be emotionally conscientious, orderly, and emotionally stable to handle the OR environment
- Has the ability to adhere to work schedule, be organized, manage time effectively and in a cost effective manner
- Above average organization skills
- Able to effectively work within a team
- Above average communication skills: verbal and written
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Knowledge of Amkai Charts Database software
- Employees must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
- Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands are essential
- Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus—is required 100% of the time
- Occasional driving or climbing may also be necessary
Desired Qualifications
- Surgical Technician experience is preferred, but we are willing to train!
- Eye surgery experience is preferred
- Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or other Surgical Technician certifications preferred
- Certified Surgical Technician (CST) certification preferred
