Job Summary
Assist the doctor during surgery by suctioning, cutting sutures, irrigating, and maintaining patient vitals while keeping the surgical field clean. Monitor patient airways, log medications, and assist with sterilization of instruments. Break down prior setups, prepare for the next surgery, clean and stock operatories, and take x-rays and chart findings. Educate patients on post-operative instructions, discharge them, coordinate treatment plans with front office, and complete huddles. Perform post-op calls, closing duties, and room prep. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Some further secretarial education training in word processing and computer
- Knowledge of modern office practices
- Principles of modern record keeping
- Setup and maintaining filing systems
- Knowledge of legal phrases and terminology
- Skill in operating a personal computer
- Skill in word processing software
- Skill in oral communications
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and memos
- Ability to write correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to the general public, co-workers and other employees of the organization
- Good knowledge of the English language and spelling
- Ability to learn dental & medical terminology
- Ability to stand & walk
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Ability to talk or hear
- Ability to occasionally sit
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
