Surgical Technician (Full-Time)

Job Summary
Prepare and maintain medical equipment for surgical procedures by setting up instruments, sterile drapes, and solutions before operations. Wash, shave, and disinfect incision sites; transport patients to the operating room, position them on the table, and cover them with sterile drapes. Pass instruments to surgeons, hold retractors, count sponges and needles, and assist with specimen preparation and dressing application. Operate sterilizers, lights, or suction machines, and help transfer patients to recovery while cleaning and restocking the room. Requires 0-2 years of clinical experience, CPR certification, and standing for long periods.
Required Qualifications
- A graduate of an accredited surgical tech program
- completed an appropriate training program for surgical technologists in the Armed Forces
- is completing duties related to their employment by the federal government
- has equivalent training or experience
- Must be certified to perform CPR
- 0-2 years of clinical experience in a related field
- Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients in the center
- Must demonstrate the knowledge of the principle of growth and development of the life span
- possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills in the nursing process
- Demonstrates the ability to utilize recognized channels of communication
- Demonstrates the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients, co-workers, and other health team members
- Ability to be on your feet for long periods
- lift or turn disabled patients
- Ability to concentrate for periods of up to four hours
- Ability to communicate verbally both in person and on the telephone
- Ability to use computer keyboard and to view a computer monitor
