Surgical Technician - Full Time - Surgery

Required Qualifications

• •Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent education/experience
• •Current CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider) or ability to obtain prior to start date

• •Ability to assist with placement of sterile drapes
• •Ability to provide instruments and supplies to the surgical team during the procedure
• •Ability to maintain an organized sterile field
• •Ability to ensure sterility of the field and take corrective actions as needed
• •Ability to prepare sterile dressings
• •Ability to clean and prepare surgical instruments for processing and transport them to the decontamination areas
• •Ability to meet regulatory requirements for sterilization, high level disinfection and biological monitoring
• •Ability to assist with post procedure cleaning of the operative or other invasive procedure room and preparation of room for subsequent patients
• •Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information
• •Working knowledge of regulatory standards
• •Ability to orient, instruct and train assigned personnel
• •Ability to utilize the EMR to perform essential job functions
• •Ability to perform monthly outdates of supplies
• •Ability to assist with ordering of supplies
• •Ability to participate in the performance appraisal process
• •Ability to maintain required competencies
• •Ability to recognize unusual conditions outside of his/her expertise and seek guidance of coworkers or supervisor
• •Ability to use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members
• •Ability to respond to the needs of the department by performing other duties, as necessary
• •Occasional travel to various health system locations

Desired Qualifications

• •Certified surgical technologist (CST)
• •Minimum of six months previous OR experience
• •Orthopedic, specifically sports medicine, experience
• •Previous experience in reprocessing operations
• •Bilingual abilities
