Job Summary
Prepare instruments, drape, and position patients for surgery while anticipating surgeon needs and managing sterile supplies. Operate OR equipment including lights, suction, and sterilizers; count sponges, needles, and blades. Assist with specimen preparation, patient transfer to PACU, and maintaining accurate records of medications and implants. Clean and restock the operating room, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and accreditation standards. Participate in continuing education, staff meetings, and the Q.A.P.I. program. Requires CST certification, BLS, and experience with Amkai Charts Database.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to prioritize, plan, and implement patient care within the scope of their practice
- Ability to handle stress associated with prioritizing multiple tasks
- Needs manual dexterity to handle instruments
- Must be emotionally conscientious, orderly, and emotionally stable to handle the OR environment
- Has the ability to adhere to work schedule, be organized, manage time effectively and in a cost effective manner
- Above average organization skills
- Able to effectively work within a team
- Above average communication skills: verbal and written
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
- Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands
- Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus—is required 100% of the time
- Ability to anticipate the needs of the Surgeon and has equipment, medical gases and supplies readily available for all procedures
- Ability to scrub all types of cases performed at the company
Desired Qualifications
- Two (2) years of hospital main operating room experience
- Certified Surgical Technician (CST) certification
- Knowledge of Amkai Charts Database software
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook
- Knowledge of central and sterile supply department
