Surgical Technician First Assist, CVOR - Operating Room

Job Summary
Position and prep patients, open and close surgical sites, dissect tissue, remove tissue, implant devices, alter tissue, provide hemostasis, suture, apply or remove dressings and splints, and administer topical agents as ordered. Place IVs and pass sterile instruments to the surgeon and assistants under RN and surgeon direction. This Cardiothoracic and Cardiovascular role requires First Assistant certification, open heart experience, and CPR certification. On-call coverage with a 30-minute response time is mandatory. You will support surgeons and nurses while reflecting Kettering Health's mission, vision, values, and policies in all patient and coworker interactions.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of examination for first assistant First Assistant certification
- Open heart experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR certified
- Ability to multitask and work in fast pace environment
- Able to function independently as a surgical technician
- Customer service/communication skills
- Ability to teach others due to being a teaching facility
- On-call is required
- On call required with 30 Minute Response time
Desired Qualifications
- Surgical experience preferred; with a minimum 4 years' experience if not a graduate of an ST program
- Experience as a ST preferred
