Job Summary
The Surgical Technician assists during operative and invasive procedures in the surgical center, ensuring the operating room is prepared with anticipated instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment. Responsibilities include instrument handling and sterilization, maintaining sterile technique and instrument counts, positioning and draping patients, preparing and scrubbing for procedures, and supporting the Circulating RN and surgeon. Evokes teamwork, patient safety, and compliance with aseptic protocols; collaborates with nursing staff for intraoperative and postoperative needs, and monitors instrument counts and room readiness to optimize efficiency and patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
- Current BCLS Certification and must maintain BLS certification
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in EMR and computer literacy
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
