Job Summary
The Surgical Technician - CVOR Operating Room in Dayton, OH assists in direct patient care during surgical procedures by selecting, setting up and passing sterile instruments under RN/physician supervision. Responsibilities include labeling/handling specimens, maintaining aseptic technique, ensuring infection control, assisting with pre/postoperative care, preparing the OR and instruments, operating specialized equipment, and supporting patient transport. Requires formal Surgical Technology education or equivalent experience, certification within one year if not already certified, and a minimum of two years in the primary specialty with proficiency across Heart, Vascular, Endovascular, General Surgery, Robotics, Trauma, and related areas. On-call with a 30-minute response time is required.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Surgical Technology from a NBSTA accredited program OR NCCT certification; or Four (4) years of experience as a surgical technologist with a High School Diploma; or Four (4) years applicable on the job or military surgical technology training with a High School Diploma
- Certified Surgical Technologist required within one year of hire if hired without certification
- Minimum of two years recent experience in primary specialty
- Proficient in scrubbing: Heart, Vascular, Endovascular, General Surgery, Robotics, and Trauma
- Ortho, Bariatrics, ENT, Neuro/Spine, Ophthalmology, Urology, and Maxillofacial a plus
- On Call is required with a 30-minute response time
