Job Summary
Prepare the operating room for cesarean sections and other OB/GYN procedures by setting up surgical instruments, sterile drapes, and necessary supplies. Scrub in and maintain aseptic technique while anticipating team needs to pass instruments, sutures, and supplies. Assist with patient positioning, draping, and specimen care, then decontaminate and restock instruments post-procedure. Perform counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments with the RN before, during, and after surgery. Support emergency responses for stat cesarean sections, postpartum hemorrhage, and neonatal resuscitation. Assist with general patient tasks including vital signs, transport, and hygiene. Stock labor rooms and ORs to ensure adequate supplies. Work night shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am with alternating weekends, 36 weekly standard hours. Maintain competency in neonatal resuscitation equipment and participate in quality improvement activities.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Completion of an Surgical Technician training program
- Certification by the Association of Surgery Technologists as a Surgical Technologist CST, NBSTSA
- Basic Life Support /CPR certification through American Heart Association
- 7:00 pm – 7:00 am
- Alternating Weekends
- Full Time
- 36 Weekly Standard Hours
