Job Summary
Prepare the operating room for cesarean sections and other OB/GYN procedures by setting up surgical instruments, sterile drapes, and necessary supplies. Scrub in and maintain aseptic technique while passing instruments, sutures, and supplies during the procedure. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and assist with positioning, prepping, and draping patients. Perform counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments with the RN before, during, and after surgery. Assist with general patient care tasks such as vital signs, transport, and hygiene when needed. Decontaminate, clean, and restock surgical instruments and supplies after procedures. Assist in emergency situations such as stat cesarean sections and postpartum hemorrhage. Maintain competency in neonatal resuscitation equipment and participate in quality improvement activities. Work night shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am with alternating weekends.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Completion of an Surgical Technician training program
- Certification by the Association of Surgery Technologists as a Surgical Technologist CST, NBSTSA
- Basic Life Support /CPR certification through American Heart Association
- 7:00 pm – 7:00 am
- Alternating Weekends
- Full Time
- 36 Weekly Standard Hours
