Job Summary
Assist nursing and surgical staff with direct patient care activities in the operating room environment. Perform technical duties as scrub personnel, including applying sterile dressings, draping, and maintaining a clean work area. Gather supplies, check cases, and ensure proper functioning of equipment while monitoring aseptic technique and identifying breaks in sterility. Conduct needle, sponge, and instrument counts, verify specimen collection, and report drain or implant locations for documentation. Collaborate with the surgical team to anticipate needs, communicate pertinent information, and participate in unit performance improvement activities.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an OR Technician training program or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of experience
- Must be a Certified Surgical Technician by the Association of Surgery Technologists, NBSTSA
- Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association
