Job Summary
Prepare the operating room for cesarean sections and other OB/GYN procedures by setting up surgical instruments, sterile drapes, and necessary supplies. Scrub in and maintain aseptic technique while anticipating team needs to pass instruments, sutures, and supplies. Assist with patient positioning, draping, vital signs, transport, and hygiene as needed. Perform counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments with the RN before, during, and after surgery. Decontaminate, clean, and restock instruments and supplies post-procedure. Assist in emergency situations such as stat cesarean sections and postpartum hemorrhage, maintaining competency in neonatal resuscitation equipment. Stock labor rooms and supply carts to ensure adequate supplies are available. Participate in quality improvement activities, attend required staff meetings and trainings, and maintain CST certification.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Completion of an Surgical Technician training program
- Certification by the Association of Surgery Technologists as a Surgical Technologist CST, NBSTSA
- Basic Life Support /CPR certification through American Heart Association
- 7:00 pm – 7:00 am
- Alternating Weekends
- Full Time
- 36 Weekly Standard Hours
