Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist assists in operating room preparation and intraoperative activities under RN supervision, including gathering necessary instruments and supplies, passing instruments to the surgeon, maintaining aseptic technique, sterilization, instrument handling, and turnover of the OR. Responsibilities include reviewing schedules and preferences, ensuring proper setup, collaborating with the Registered Nurse on patient care, maintaining equipment safety checks, cleaning and restocking after cases, and adhering to sterilization and documentation policies to support efficient patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Required: High school diploma and successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program
- Active, unexpired BLS certification
- Licensed by the Board of Medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia to practice as a Surgical Technologist or Certified Surgical Technologist
- Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting preferred
- One (1) or more years in an inpatient hospital setting preferred
