Job Summary

Conduct surgical procedures by checking supplies, scrubbing, and setting up sterile tables with instruments and medications. Pass instruments, retractors, and sutures to surgeons while maintaining highest standards of sterile technique and anticipating team needs. Perform appropriate counts prior to operations and before incision closure, handle specimens safely, and manage sharps following OR safety policies. Requires NJ or PA certification, 1-1/2 years on-the-job training, and ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 100+ pounds. Required Qualifications

  • Certification required upon hire
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) certification
  • National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification
  • Ability to sit up to 1 hour per day
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to walk up to 8-10 hours per day
  • Ability to continuously use manual dexterity for handling and twisting/turning
  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 10 pounds
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry objects up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to frequently push objects up to 100+ pounds
  • Ability to stoop and bend
  • Ability to reach above shoulder level
  • Ability to move and respond quickly
  • Ability to hear as it relates to normal conversation, high and low frequencies
  • Ability to see as it relates to general, near, far, color, and peripheral vision
  • Depth perception
  • Ability to tolerate visual monotony
