Job Summary
Perform scrubbing duties for all surgical preparations across specialties including General, Gynecology, Urology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Cardiovascular, and Plastic/ENT. Set up the operating room per instructions and physician requests, then ensure the space is cleaned and ready for turnover. Restock rooms with supplies, notify leadership of shortages or quality issues, and organize equipment in an orderly, clean area. Maintain sponge, needle, and instrument counts to support patient safety while working assigned shifts, rotating days and evenings, and taking call as scheduled. Requires CST certification, CPR certification, and one year of surgical technician experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduation or GED equivalent
- Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology Program
- Certification of Surgical Technologist (CST)
- CPR Certification
- Full use of upper and lower extremities with proficient manual dexterity
- Hearing and visual acuity necessary
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
- Ability to mobilize to various service areas
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to work under required deadlines and schedules
- Ability to professionally handle stressful situations
- Excellent verbal and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated professional, courteous, positive attitude and assertive but not aggressive
- Knowledge of operational policies and procedures related to patient and facility safety
- Knowledge of procedures for protecting and maintaining security, confidentiality and integrity of employee, patient, family, organizational and other medical information
- Understanding of federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations governing ethical business practices for healthcare providers
