Job Summary
Facilitate patient care by assisting surgeons before, during, and after procedures, creating and maintaining sterile fields while providing required instruments and supplies. Plan, set up, and clean up assigned surgical cases as a circulator or scrub tech, safely operating specialized equipment such as lasers, microscopes, and endoscopes. Demonstrate knowledge of asepsis principles, recognizing contamination and taking corrective action to maintain sterility. Assist nurses in performing sharp, sponge, and instrument counts, and demonstrate proper patient positioning techniques using appropriate aids. Follow unit standards, safety policies, and complete required annual education assignments.
Required Qualifications
- Must hold current and active national Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or TS-C certification established by either the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- Must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority
