Job Summary
Prepare and handle instrumentation, supplies, and devices necessary for surgical procedures while working under RN supervision to maximize patient safety and sterile technique. Apply AORN and professional standards during invasive procedures, ensuring all equipment is ready before the case begins. Maintain in-house availability within 30 minutes for call rotations during weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Work Monday through Friday from 6:15 am to 2:45 pm with a 40-hour weekly schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology
- LPN Licensure (if applicable)
- Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross
- The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off
- Must possess good physical health
- Lifting at least 50 pounds
- Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise
- Must be available in-house within 30 minutes when on call
- Call is required during week, weekends, holidays, and disasters
Desired Qualifications
- One (1) year experience is preferred or STHS experience through the Surgical Tech Educational affiliate program
- Acute Care
- Surgical Technology Certification (CST)
