Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist is a key member of the surgical team responsible for preparing, organizing, and managing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations. Key responsibilities include maintaining a sterile field, passing instruments to the surgeon, performing accurate counts with the circulating nurse, assisting with post-operative care, and contributing to unit goals. Candidates must possess certification through a nationally accredited credentialing organization or meet specific educational and experience requirements. Medium work physical requirements apply.
Required Qualifications
- Completed a military surgical technology program
- Graduated from a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited Surgical Technology program and obtain certification through a nationally accredited credentialing organization within 12 months of graduation
- Graduated from an accredited school of practical nursing
- Qualify under the 'Grandfathering Clause' by providing proof of at least one year of employment as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility between December 31, 2010, and December 31, 2014
- Qualify under the 'Hard-to-Fill Clause' by graduating from an accredited program and obtain certification through a nationally accredited credentialing organization within 24 months of hire
Additional Requirements
- Surgical Technologist Certification is not required for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) with current licensure in the State of New York
