Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist is responsible for filling the surgical scrub role on all types of minor and major surgical procedures. Key responsibilities include assisting physicians and nurses in medical and technical procedures, maintaining patient confidentiality, ensuring a safe environment for surgeries, and complying with hospital standards. The role requires decision-making regarding equipment sterilization, supporting other hospital personnel, performing sponge, instrument, and needle counts, and restocking operating rooms. Successful candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, certification as a Surgical Technologist, and current Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist
- Current BCLS
Desired Qualifications
- Two years previous experience as an operating room technician (ideally orthopedic surgery)
