Job Summary
Assist with in-room preoperative and intra-operative patient preparation and surgical suite setup before, during, and after procedures under direct registered nurse supervision. Perform routine and specialized tasks including preparing equipment and surgical tables, moving patients between stretcher and table, positioning patients, and managing case carts. Maintain a clean, safe environment by following sterilization techniques, scrubbing in cases, and cleaning operating rooms for turnover. Complete mandatory certifications including CPR, PPD, and age-specific competencies while attending continuing education programs. Communicate effectively with internal and external customers and participate in inter-departmental teams. Requires accredited surgical tech program completion, one to two years of hospital experience, and knowledge of orthopedic, general, GYN, and vascular procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of accredited surgical tech program
- New graduate
- 1-2 years experience in a hospital setting
- Surgical experience
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of internal and external customers
- Knowledge of different types of procedures: Orthopedic General GYN Vascular Surgery
- Basic Computer skills to perform Data entry
- Computerized clinical information systems such as Clinicians View GE Manager
- HIPAA policies on Confidentiality
