Job Summary
The Surgical Tech Lead-Pain PRN supports surgical teams by preparing operating rooms, organizing instruments and supplies, and assisting with procedures under supervision of a surgeon and RN. Leads and trains surgical technicians, contributes to scheduling and quality initiatives, ensures aseptic technique and infection control, and collaborates to maintain high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include instrument handling, sponge/needle/instrument counts, specimen labeling, room turnover, updating physician preference cards, and assisting with orientation and competency of staff. Requires CST certification, BCLS, and completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program; 3-5 years of experience as a surgical technician with lead/preceptor experience preferred; Mississippi-specific certification requirements apply.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program required
- 3-5 years of experience as a surgical technician required
- Prior experience in a lead or preceptor role preferred
- CST - Certified Surgical Technologist required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support required
- ABLS - Advanced Burn Life Support preferred
- Mississippi: BLS certification required, Surgical Technician certification is preferred
