Job Summary
Conduct intraoperative patient care by assisting surgeons with tissue manipulation, retraction, hemostasis, and wound closure while preparing and draping patients. Ensure proper instrument selection and actively contribute to preventing complications during procedures. Serve as a preceptor and role model to mentor new staff, sharing technical knowledge to enhance the overall skill level of the healthcare team. Maintain current BLS-CPR certification and demonstrate in-depth knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and operative techniques. This Certified Surgical Tech First Assistant role operates within CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center's Level I trauma center, supporting a patient-centered environment focused on healing the body, mind, and spirit.
Required Qualifications
- Certified and Licensed (Nebraska) Surgical (Scrub) Technician First Assistant
- Accredited Surgical Technology First Assist program
- Two years of scrubbing/assisting experience within the last four years
- In-depth knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and operative techniques related to first assisting
- Current BLS-CPR certification
