Job Summary
Provide direct support to the surgeon and clinical team throughout the perioperative phase of care. Position and prep patients prior to surgery, ensure clear visibility using retractors and sponges, control bleeding, close surgery sites, and properly dress wounds. Maintain an effective operating theater and optimize procedural care. Requires CST or CSFA certification, BLS, and three years of surgical services experience. PRN schedule at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduate or successful completion of accredited Surgical Technology or Surgical First Assist program
- Successfully completed military training in surgical technology
- Military documentation to establish education includes a DD214 demonstrating graduation from a military training program
- 3 years of experience in surgical services
- Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) issued by National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- Certification as a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) issued by National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
- Certification as a Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) issued by the National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA)
- Surgical Assistant, Certified (SA-C) issued by American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
