Job Summary

Provide instruments, supplies, and equipment to surgeons, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, and Registered Nurses before, during, and after surgery. Anticipate surgeon needs, maintain the sterile field, and ensure quality patient care while managing sterile processing instruments across the Hospital and Clinics. Check expiration dates, organize supplies in Operating Rooms and Procedure Rooms, and verify equipment is in proper working condition. Participate in Code Trauma Team activations for codes and traumas. Part-time, mostly days with shared call; hourly, non-exempt, union. Requires National Surgical Technologist certification, CPR, and experience in general surgery, OBGYN, c-sections, endoscopy, and orthopedics.

Required Qualifications

  • Current CPR certification
  • Previous Surgical Scrub experience
  • Experience in general surgery
  • Experience in OBGYN cases
  • Experience in c-sections
  • Experience in endoscopy
  • Experience in orthopedics
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of surgical procedures
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of instrumentation
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Sterile Processing organization
  • Demonstrates principles of asepsis and sterile technique
  • Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Understanding of the procedures being performed
  • Ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure
  • Understanding of sterile field maintenance
  • Responsibility for sterile processing instruments from various areas of the Hospital and Clinics
  • Ability to maintain appropriate levels of instruments throughout the facility
  • Member of the Code Trauma Team
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check
  • Successful completion of 500-hour probationary period
  • Criminal background check
  • Pre-employment drug screen
